The M&L technology approach

NetRelayMP – Ubiquiti mPOWER hardware + Standalone Management Software

NetRelayMP transforms Ubiquiti mFi mPower devices into a standalone IoT and power management platform with a modern web interface, MQTT, Home Assistant, scheduling, ping monitoring and field automation capabilities.

NetRelayMP – Ubiquiti mPOWER hardware + Standalone Management Software

Standalone and Modern Management Platform for Ubiquiti mPOWER

NetRelayMP is a standalone software layer developed to adapt Ubiquiti mFi mPower hardware to modern IoT, power management and automation requirements. It extends the capabilities of existing mPower hardware by providing local control and integration with modern automation platforms without replacing the device itself.

NetRelayMP is not an official Ubiquiti firmware image. It is an overlay software layer designed to run on Ubiquiti mFi mPower MF.v2.1.11 and is installed in the device's persistent /etc/persistent storage. This approach preserves the existing hardware while significantly expanding its management and integration capabilities.

Modern Web Management Interface

A modern web interface running directly on the device allows outlets and relay states to be monitored and controlled over the local network. Turkish and English interface support simplifies installation, administration and field operations.

MQTT and Home Assistant Integration

NetRelayMP communicates with external automation platforms through MQTT. MQTT Discovery simplifies integration with Home Assistant, while Apple Home integration can be achieved through Home Assistant HomeKit Bridge or Homebridge.

Local Control Without Internet Dependency

Core relay control and the web management interface can operate entirely on the local network without an active Internet connection. The MQTT broker can also be hosted locally, making the platform suitable for factories, technical rooms, remote sites, telecommunications infrastructure and environments with limited Internet connectivity.

Advanced Scheduling and Automation

Outlets can be controlled automatically using time, day and pulse-based rules. Sunrise and sunset scheduling enables astronomical automation scenarios for lighting and power applications without requiring an additional external controller.

Ping Monitoring and Automatic Reboot

NetRelayMP can continuously monitor a specified IP address or domain. If connectivity is lost, a selected relay can automatically power-cycle the connected equipment. This enables automatic recovery scenarios for modems, routers, access points, cameras and other network devices.

Watchdog and Field Safety

The integrated watchdog monitors essential services such as the web service, Wi-Fi, NTP, MQTT and scheduler. Relay locking and maximum-on-time controls help prevent connected equipment from remaining powered longer than intended.

Multi-Device and Fleet Management

UDP-based device discovery, JSON configuration backup and restore capabilities simplify the deployment and management of multiple mPower units. Configuration cloning allows Wi-Fi, MQTT and other settings to be replicated quickly across similar devices.

Giving Existing Hardware a New Life

NetRelayMP is designed to bring existing Ubiquiti mPower hardware into modern automation environments. With MQTT, Home Assistant, local web control, scheduling and network monitoring capabilities, mPower devices can evolve from simple smart power outlets into flexible platforms for remote power management and IoT automation.

Developed by ML Technology, the NetRelayMP project is intended for network infrastructure, remote power management, IoT automation, telecommunications
applications and specialized field projects where existing mPower hardware can continue to provide value.
